Meredith Vaughan began her violin studies at the age of five. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Violin Performance from Vanderbilt University and a Master’s of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Minnesota. Past teachers and chamber coaches include Mark Bjork, Carolyn Huebl, Mary Sorlie, Bruce Coppock, Kathryn Plummer, and Tanya Remenikova, as well as member of the Arianna, Shanghai, Pacifica, Artaria, and Ying Quartets. She has performed extensively throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding area, toured China with the Vanderbilt Orchestra, and participated in master classes with members of the Emerson, Juilliard, and Miró Quartets.

Meredith is also passionate about music education and teaches violin and viola students of all ages. She maintains private studios at the Center for Performing Arts (Minneapolis) and Breck School (Golden Valley). She completed long-term Suzuki teacher training in books 1-4 of the Suzuki violin repertoire with Carol Smith (Vanderbilt University), and long-term training covering books 1-10 + a Suzuki Practicum course with Mark Bjork (University of Minnesota). She has also completed Stage 1-3 of Suzuki Early Childhood Education training with Sharon Jones at the American Suzuki Institute.

Meredith is currently serving as Co-Chair of the Suzuki Association of Minnesota’s (SAM) statewide Graduation program. She previously served as Volunteer Coordinator for the program for six years and as Secretary for the SAM board of directors for four years.

She has been a judge for the Twin Cities-based Thursday Musical Competition for Young Artists and a clinician for the Southeastern Minnesota Suzuki Association’s Gasshuku Workshop.

When she is not playing or teaching, Meredith enjoys drinking iced lattes, cooking and baking, listening to podcasts, and spending time with her husband and dog. She also enjoys writing about music—you can read her substack newsletter on musical life here (or more teaching-specific writing here).
